CONVERSION OF APPLE NON-SELF-PROPELLED BARGES INTO SELF-PROPELLED FUEL TANKS BARGES PTA-900.

The existence of installations of Generating Groups in different locations near the ports such as the keys makes it necessary to have suitable vessels for the fuel supply. So it was decided to convert the barges that were used for the molasses transportation (called APPLE non self-propelled) to turn them into self-propelled tank barges. The design was carried out by the CDC specialists and approved by the classification society Cuban Ship Registry (RCB).

  • The most significant details of the conversion are the following:
  • The bow was transformed into stern.
  • A block was added in the old stern to turn it into the new bow.
  • An outboard propeller Schottel Navigator was installed
  • A new larger accommodation house with a bridge was added
  • A new cofferdam to the bow of the new fourth pump room # 2 was added.

RENOVATION OF THE ROTATING IRON BRIDGE OVER THE ALMENDARES RIVER

.

The bridge is located on 11th and 26th streets between Vedado and Miramar.
It was decided to design and build the Iron Bridge because it was very old, having a high degree of generalized deterioration throughout its structure which no longer allowed to repair but to make it new. CDC specialists took as references or starting data the existing bridge and other data provided by the National Road Center and made the design of its construction which was reviewed, approved and certified by the Company: TRANSPROY, UEB: CCREA Architecture and Engineering VC.

  • The most significant details are the following:
  • It was built completely welded
  • The old one was dismantled and the new one was placed with a floating crane.
  • The old bridge was transported by sea in barges to the shipyard to use it as scrap and the new one was moved in the same way.

WORKS OF THE OIL ACTIVITY MANAGEMENT

The Oil Activity Management, created since 2009, participates in the recovery of fuel storage capacities and associated works. The main customers have been the Oil Maintenance Company (EMPET), Camilo Cienfuegos Refinery and Airport Services Company (ECASA). In the last three years CDC S.A. has participated in 96 repair works and/or construction of new storage capacities, for an amount exceeding 17 million Pesos in total currency, contributing to the recovery of more than 650,000 m3 of storage capacity.

  • Construction of 50,000 m3 tanks in Matanzas.
  • Reparación general de tanques en las Refinerías Ñico López, Sergio Soto y Camilo Cienfuegos.
  • General tank repair with the Empet (Matanzas, Cárdenas, Puerto Escondido, Boca de Jaruco, Santiago de Cuba).
  • Assembly and mounting of geodesic domes and tank membranes.
  • General tank repair at José Martí, Varadero and Cienfuegos airports
  • Repair and maintenance works of the Supertankers dock in Matanzas.
  • Manufacture and assembly of 20″ pipelines at the Cienfuegos refinery.
  • Anticorrosive protection to pipe lines in the Camilo Cienfuegos Refinery.
  • Repair of exhaust gas processing towers in Camilo Cienfuegos Refinery.

CONSTRUCTION OF SEVERAL TYPES OF SHIPS

A high specialized team design and build small port ancillary ships, such as barges, tugboats, passenger boats, etc. and metallic structures for the industry in general, including small steel bridges.
